How do you adjust the Clutch Safety Switch
I took my Clutch pedal assembly out and replaced it today. The car wont start now unless I reach down and press the clutch safety switch as far as it will go with my hand. When I push the clutch all the way to the floor it only presses the plunger on the clutch safety switch about half way. I think this switch can be adjusted or re-calibrated, but I cant figure out how to do it. The plunger moves freely, but will not allow the car to start unless it is pushed all the way in. I saw a post that said that I can just put a wire in as a jumper and the car will start, but I would like to fix it if possible.

Problem solved!
So I took another shot at this today with much better results. It turns out I was not pulling on the plunger hard enough. I took the switch out this morning and fiddled with it some more. At one point I was pushing the plunger all the way in and I heard a "click". Next I extended the plunger as far as it would go, another "click". At this point the plunger was extended much farther that it was yesterday. You will know that it is fully extended because there is a saw tooth pattern gear like thing all the way at the end of the plunger, and you will not be able to see it until the plunger is all the way extended (I don't remember ever seeing it yesterday).
I reinstalled the switch in the clutch pedal assembly, turned the car to the "on" position. pressed the clutch all the way in with my foot (heard another "click") and started the car.
I can't explain why this took two min this morning and I couldn't fix it for hours last night, and I don't really care t this point. As long as the car is working properly I am happy.
I figured I would update this thread with the answer so if anyone searches, like I did before posting, they will find the answer.

When the pedal is installed at the factory the switch plunger is pulled all the way out, as you described. When the car reaches the end of the assembly line, ready to roll off to the chassis dyno, the key is turned on and the pedal pushed, the PCM immediately resets the clutch pedal position setting.
I've just taken out the clutch pedal to install the Racing Roots reinforcement bracket, now pedal is reinstalled but like the OP, I can't start the car unless I press the switch by hand.

All you have to do it take the switch off and pull on the plunger REALLY hard(you'll think it's going to break but it won't) and then it will pop out to the fully extended position and then you can reinstall and everything should work fine.
This is caused by you either pushing the plunger in by hand while the assembly was out or actuating the pedal with the assembly out of the car.

Thank you! Worked exactly like described. While I had the switch and pedal off, I started playing around with it and somehow messed that up. I took it apart, pulled it all the way out and now it works fine. Gracias

Ya, I need to do that. I had to work and it rained today. Hopefully tomorrow I can do it. I am curious though, I pulled the switch out until it clicked like everyone said. I need to check but I think when I pushed the clutch in, it didn't come all of the way out when I released it. If that's true, is there a way to fix that? Or do I just need to replace it?
