is there any actual benefit of removing the back seats? how much weight does it even reduce?... i'd imagine it can't be much. i have seen another thread on this once before but couldn't seem to find it...

they didnt seem very heavy to me. i dont think it would be much but im no expert on cutting car weight either. i only took them out because i was running audio wire to the trunk from the front of the car and needed to remove them so i could run the wire.

the point in removing the back seats

In my own PERSONAL opinion i think the only reason why people remove the back seats in these cars is for the only logical explanation of inserting a sub inclosure. i mean i think its prob the best way to insert the box idk ... I havent gotten my box in the mail yet so i will let you know when i get it what the best way to put it in is.

nope itll drop right into the trunk, angle one side down with the holes facing you and tilt it slightly forward it slides right in and thats a hell of a lot easier than removing the seats, supports, and plastic parts

^"not much" is relative to what your purpose is. Take them out and you've lost ~24lbs. That's quite a lot actually if your goal is reducing the weight of the car to improve performance. As in name 24 other pounds that's so easy to shed...

Sorry, couldn't find a thread that had what I wanted so I'll post here. Does anyone know what these are underneath the rear seats? And what they do? I'm insulating with FatMat in my car and looking for places. Thanks!

In the pic below I've removed the cover. Definitely cleaning this before putting it back together D:

I would think seat warmer, but car doesn't have seat warmers, and it doesn't look like it would work well either way, so idk...

That's the gas tank down there, one side of it anyways, and the cover and wires are for entry into it and it contains the in tank fuel pump and filter. Yea, peps back there are sitting atop a tank of highly combustible liquid.

Thanks, thats what I thought at first, but then I was like, no way, not under the passenger seat... Surely it'd be under the trunk...

It much safer (!) under the seat and in front of the rear wheels, because of the better crash protection afforded.

Makes a lot of sense if you get hit in the rear quarter panel. That would decimate a under-the-trunk gas tank. Which is a pretty common place to get hit. Thanks!
