Question Clutch Sounds?

Hello all,

Got a question for you all, and hopefully someone will know the answer. I have an '05 RX8. I am getting some sort of chirping noise coming from I believe some where in the clutch system. If you press the clutch pedal in 1" or so, the chirping sound quits. I took it to the Mazda dealer and was told it was the master cylinder and they replaced it (under warranty), but it is still yet doing it, and seems like there is even more play in the clutch pedal since they done that. I told them I thought it might would be the throw out bearing, but they were so sure about it being the master cylinder. I was wondering what you all thought before I had to make another 2 hour trip to the nearest Mazda dealer to have them check it all out again.

Thanks,
Drifton

Thanks for the reply Greenblurr93,

I wonder if they usually keep those in stock or if they would have to overnight the part like they did with the master cylinder? Also, throw out bearing wouldn't be considered a "wear and tare" part would it? I'd much rather my warranty pay for it than me, as you might would imagine.

I'm going to be fired up if it's not under warranty. I already wasted $150 in gas and missed work the first time...

If its considered a "wear item" which it should be, it wont be covered. How many miles are on the current clutch? MAYBE you could say it was premature wear to MAYBE get it covered... but then all they have to say is "Driver inexperiance"

Its really hard to cover wear item. Usually Clutch is warrant for 12 months 12 K miles whichever comes first.

My car's throwout bearing is bad too, but it was due to bad install by the shop I've been to.

FWIW, mine has been chirping just as you described since I bought the car (1800 mi sales demo). 3 years later, I have about 39k mi on it and no change, and no problems.

It's annoying, but apparently not an issue. I'm not going to worry about it 'til I replace the clutch.

I'd guess it's never been changed (I bought it used almost 10k ago). It has about 30k on it now.

Mine has chirped for 35,000 nerve-wracking miles. The throw-out bearing was replaced and it quit for a few weeks, then came right back. It's annoying as hell but I figure it must not be too much to worry about if it hasn't failed me after a year and 1/2. Don't expect them to replace it under warranty. They did mine as a courtesy only because they were replacing the engine and I was complaining about it.

The new bearing did stop the "rollover" or "grinding" noise that a lot of people talk about on here, ton of threads on this. When in neutral with the clutch engaged, I would have a loud noise coming from the clutch. Push in the clutch, it went away. Of course I was told it was a normal noise at the dealer and they were reluctant to mess with it. But they did and it went away after they replaced the throw-out bearing.
