Rotarygod and Brillo's Sevenstock 9 blog

Ok we did this last year and it's even still on the first page of this Sevenstock section. Here we go again. A day by day diary of what we did and what we saw as often as we can update it. Brillo will have his laptop and I've got the digital camera so we'll update you as we go this weekend. Zoom44 will also be with us so we'll still be able to use the ban stick from there!!!

Entry #1: 4:49 pm Thursday afternoon. Plane leaves at 9:20 am CST tomorrow morning. Here's hoping we get on. Our plans for the day tomorrow are to go visit Mazdatrix to make a detailed difference comparison between Renesis and 13B rotors. Hopefully we'll be able to. Also planning to stop at other places as time allows. See you on the other side!

Checking flight totals and too many damn people want to go out there! The flights are well overbooked and we are flying standby. It doesn't look good. We may not get there until 7 or 8 pm and that will kill our plans for tomorrow. It sucks. Why do so many people want to go to California? Oh well. I'll have to deal with it tomorrow I guess. It's going to be one long pissed off day tomorrow and I will be in a very bad mood I'm sure. Our plans to go to Mazdatrix this trip will be ruined if we can't get on one of the first two flights out. It doesn't look like we will.

Yeah, our drive out may get interesting. There are wildfires near Palm Springs just south of rt 10.

Fred - why didn't you and Alan buy tickets in advance?

He has frequent flyer miles and my sister works for Continental. For $25, I can't really argue a whole lot.

Ahh. Cheap flights.
Just bought my tickets to Amsterdam. With all the miles, my wife and I go round trip for just the $60 in taxes.
Of course, US Airways could have gotten you to and from LA for $140, first thing in the morning...
Ya get what ya pay for, I guess...

As long as you guys make it there in time for beer...

We've had some bad weather tonight so many flights out were cancelled. Those people are stuck here tonight and are trying to leave tomorrow. That's why we are going to be in trouble. Had the weather been better, we'd be getting out. Even with a ticket there's no guarantee that we'd get on. They are all overbooked.

I doubt we'll see anything that is a secret. We might though. You need to know what you are looking at. Mazda has had a way of hiding things in plain sight. One year they had a turbo RX-8 there that they just drove in with the caravan and parked. Didn't open the hood and no one paid attention to it but we were by it all day long.

Still here in Houston unfortunately. All flights have been full due to passengers who missed their flights last night. Brillo might get on the 5:40 flight out of here but I definitely won't get on until at least the 7 pm flight. That will get me out there at about 8:35 pst. We're supposed to be drinking by 7:30 damn it! I'm going to need a beer (or 10) tonight.

This is a great idea. Thanks for keeping us informed. Make sure you enjoy yourself enough for all the people, like me, who can't make it.

So what are you going to do in the down time?

Unless I get to play with some at Racing Beat this weekend, the comparison pictures between the Renesis rotors and the 13B rotors might not happen. That was the plan today. We might try to leave later in the day Monday so we can go to Mazdatrix in the morning since we couldn't go today.

I remember reading something last year about a "secret RX8" that Mazda parked w/ the rest of the cars.
If I remember correctly, the only pictures anyone posted of the secret 8 were pics of someone's car that I knew, and believe me, he didn't have a turbo.
I wonder if you're talking about the same car.

Ah yes.... the oh-so-familiar feeling of waiting around IAH while Craptinental is running late/oversold. I'm SOOOOOO glad that the Wright Amendment is done with! It will be a nice change waiting around Love while Southwest is running late/oversold.

i am here!! sitting in the lounge at the Hilton all by myself- i just heard some one say rx-8. RG Brillo and Ajax(and the rest of the texans who were flying ) wont be here until tonite some time. ive got mazda maniacs number so ill call him in a bit to see how they are fairing...

and there was a Galaxy Grey turbo'd 8 right in line with the rest of the 8s last year that no one realized was there- it was a car or two over from the yellow and black winner.
